Cutting Food

Cate got this set of food that she can cut with a wooden knife for her birthday. I put most of her birthday presents in the basement and have been getting them out one at a time so that we could have something new to do. She loves this cutting set. I was impressed with her coordination and ability to use the knife. Here is some video of her playing with it.

Baby Schmidt's Room

We finally got the baby's room put together. The last thing we needed to do was hang up the Dr. Seuss tiles that my Mom painted for the room. I loved them before we hung them up, but now that they are hung up on the wall with the ribbons they look so great! The room looks great and it is nice that we have it all ready for the baby. Now all we need is Baby Schmidt.

Happy Thanksgiving

This year for Thanksgiving it was just me, Cate, and Eric. We didn't want to do too much since I am 36 weeks pregnant now. We all had a great Thanksgiving. Our turkey tasted great and we all had a good time preparing the sides for the meal. Looking around the table when we were eating I kept thinking about how much I have to be thankful for. A wonderful husband, a healthy and happy toddler, and a baby on the way. This was a great start to a wonderful holiday season.

Then she helped me make the mashed potatoes.

Cate couldn't wait to sit down for dinner, so we included her in the picture of the Thanksgiving table.

As you can see my belly is continuing to grow and grow. I can't believe that I am 36 weeks pregnant now. Next week I will be considered full term. We are getting to the point where the baby could come at any time. Cate wanted to pose with me for the belly picture. Luckily hers isn't growing like mine.

Turkey

We went to pick up our turkey today for Thanksgiving. We went to this place last year and it was the best turkey that I have ever had. So of course we wanted to go there again this year. While you are waiting you can hear turkeys in their pen. Cate thought it was a lot of fun to look at the turkeys. She got all the turkeys to gobble for her. This is another great thing about living in New England.

Talking on the phone

Cate loves to talk on the phone already. This is a video of Cate talking to Eric, who was driving home from work. She hardly lets me talk to Eric on the phone because she wants to use the phone so badly. As soon as she gets on the phone she tells Eric all about her day and what she is doing. It is very sweet.

Baby love

Cate loves to look at my belly and talk to the baby. Tonight she was being especially cute. She was talking to the baby, rubbing my belly, kissing my belly, and asking if the baby was sleeping. Then she put her ear to my belly to see if she could hear the baby. She told me that she could hear the baby, so maybe Cate and the baby can already communicate. I have a feeling that Cate is going to be the best big sister. She is so sweet and loves to help me do things around the house. She keeps asking if the baby can come out and play.

Grandma and Grandpa Schmidt

Grandma and Grandpa Schmidt came out for a visit. They have been here for the last week and we have had a lot of fun.







We took Cate to a gymnastics place that had open gym time. She had a lot of fun playing on all of the stuff. It was a great indoor play place.

Playing in the Yard

Today was a great day. This morning Cate, my parents, and I all went to the gym, then we went to gymnastics, and then we went to Starbucks for a snack. After lunch and Cate's nap we all went out and played with Cate's new truck in the yard. She ran and ran and ran. Then we all came in and Cate helped my Mom make dinner. After dinner we all looked at pictures from my parent's trip to Spain. Today's weather was beautiful and we all had a lot of fun together.

Birthday Party

Yesterday we let Cate open some of her Birthday presents before her party. She got a very neat push truck from my parents. When you push the truck the little guy inside lights up. She loved pushing it around the house. And then she opened up her dollhouse that Eric and I gave her. She loved putting the people and furniture in the house. It is so fun to watch her play.



Yesterday was Cate's 2nd Birthday Party. We had it at Gymboree. Cate absolutely loved her party. She had so much fun playing with all of her friends and she loved all of the activities. We had 8 kids there that ranged from age 14 months to 3 years old. It was a great group of kids and they all had a great time together. My parents were also in town for the party, so it was nice to have them there with us. Eric and I had a great time spending some time with some other adults outside of work. It is true that your your kids are a great way to make friends.

Hanging out with Daddy

The latest thing that Cate and Eric do together is read books in a fort. Cate will say "Daddy Fort", and Eric will build a fort in the living room. Then they get out the flashlight and a book. Cate tells me to get out the fort and wants her Daddy to come in with her. It is so cute that they have their own thing.

Last night was movie night. We ordered pizza (and Cate ate it!) and then we watched Toy Story 2. Cate loved the movie and it is fun that she likes to watch movies once in a while. Eric loved that Cate sat with him on the couch and watched the movie.
